Luke 3:4-6, 10-11
-Expect Suffering
-Embrace Pain
-Elevate Jesus
Questions:
1. Read Luke 3:4-6. Who is the prophet Isaiah referring to? What did this person mean in verse 5 when they referred to the valleys, mountains, and hills?
2. Read 1 Peter 4:12-13. Do you think you can become like Jesus if you never expect to suffer with Him? Do you find it hard to look forward to suffering? Discuss with the group how we might anticipate suffering in a way that is beneficial to our walk with Christ.
3. Read Romans 5:3-5. What can you do if your faith keeps taking you to places you don’t want to go? If it does happen, how do you center yourself on hope? If it has never happened, what implications might that have for you?
4. Read 1 John 3:16-17. What does this passage teach us about love? If Jesus gave everything on behalf of those that had nothing (us), how can we turn around and show the real love of God to others?
Pray for the people you come into contact with that are in the lowest valley, and how you can come off your mountaintop to meet their needs with Jesus and lead them to share the hope that you have in Him.
